Following yet another stupendous Wimbledon men’s final Roger Federer emulated last year’s Champion Rafael Nadal by not only emerging victorious but also by taking home the Centre Court net!
According to the Daily Mail “The All England Club presented Federer with the net from his sixth victorious Championship match, which he is thinking about hanging on the wall of his chalet in his native Switzerland.”
The All England Club made the gesture after Nadal requested the net from Centre Court after last year’s victory over Federer.
Edwards Sports supplies all of the court equipment for Wimbledon – nets, posts, singles sticks and umpires chairs and accessories.
Edwards’s Managing Director Archie Barclay said:
“Obviously Federer and Nadal recognise quality when they see it! Let’s hope Andy Murray is taking an Edwards net home next July.
We were delighted once again to be involved with such a thrilling championships. This was another special year at Wimbledon with the new Centre Court roof and the unveiling of the new No 2 court which looked magnificent. Our thanks to Dunlop Slazenger and the AELTC for their continuing support of Edwards.”
