Hotspur Way in Enfield, Tottenham Hotspur’s new state of the art training complex was opened in late 2012, and is widely recognised as the best training centre in Europe.

At Edwards Sports we are proud to have been involved in supplying sports equipment to Tottenham as part of this ambitious project.

Throughout 2012 we consulted with Darren Baldwin, Grounds Manager to create a bespoke package of products to suit the needs of not only the first team players and management but also the Academy and Development squads. Our scope was to provide equipment including goals and dugouts that were functional for the staff, easy to use for the grounds staff and aesthetically pleasing.

Central to this aim, was the adaptation of our brand new freestanding stadium box goal, a UK first which had been designed in consultation with Everton FC. A sample of these goalposts were provided to Darren and his team who then advised of specific changes which would suit the project at Spurs. Many professional clubs are looking to replicate exact conditions of their stadiums, including turf conditions, pitch dimensions and box style goalposts, at the training ground

Alongside these goalposts we also adapted our standard team shelter to create a bespoke two tier dugout allowing 360° visibility and extensive shelter to players and staff on the sidelines. Our on site team assembled and installed the dugouts as well as w

orking with Spurs Grounds team (Winners of the IOG Grounds Team of the Year 2012 award) to build over 100 goals to a tight timescale ready for opening. Together with the Spurs Grounds team (Winners of the IOG Grounds Team of the Year 2012 award), our on site team assembled and installed the dugouts as well as building over 100 goals, working to a tight timescale ready for its opening.

In addition to the outdoor pitches, Hotspur Way has a covered artificial pitch where we have provided fold to wall goals and aluminium hinged bottom goals. Both of these types of goalposts are designed for use where space is a premium and flexibility of pitch setup is important. The hinged goals can be moved very easily in confined spaces on the trolleys provided. The fold to wall goals were designed to suit the exact dimensions of the indoor pitch and in consultation with the architects and main site contractors McClaren’s, Edwards Sports installed the goals.

To complete our work at Hotspur Way, we have designed and installed a bespoke indoor ball stop system for the players’ fitness suite and protection padding for floodlights and first team training areas.

We have also had the opportunity to work further with Darren and also Jim Buttar, Head Groundsman at White Hart Lane to provide stadium goalposts, corner flags and warm up goalposts. There was a unique challenge at White Hart Lane when supplying the goalposts which required bespoke sockets, altered uprights and custom made nets to ensure the goals met the high standards required.

Our Client Service Manager, Stuart Cain, was heavily involved at Tottenham and said “We were delighted to be involved with such an impressive project at Hotspur Way, and pleased we could provide bespoke solutions to both the training ground and White Hart Lane. We are involved with ongoing work at both sites and continue to work closely with Darren’s team and the ongoing challenges of provide top quality facilities.”

Paul Jones, Head Groundsman at Hotspur Way said “We worked with Edwards Sports to equip our new training ground at Hotspur Way. The goals, dugouts and training equipment and service we received were all first class, and we particularly like the freestanding stadium goal which we hadn’t seen before and worked on with Edwards to make it suit our exact requirements.”
